Bloomfield Township

Bloomfield Township is a suburb of Metro Detroit, also referred to as simply Bloomfield and is officially known as the Charter Township of Bloomfield.

It was incorporated in 1827, the first township to be established in Oakland County.

Interesting Facts
Bloomfield Township is home to Oakland Hills Country Club, site of the 2004 Ryder Cup golf championships and the PGA Championships in 2008.

The Machus Red Fox in Bloomfield Township was the last place where former Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa was seen alive on July 30, 1975.

Many residents of Bloomfield Township use Bloomfield Hills as their mailing address, while others have Birmingham, Michigan, since postal boundary maps do not reflect township borders but are based on the post offices in the neighboring incorporated cities and villages. Bloomfield Village is often used by those residents of this unique and historic area of Bloomfield Township.
